How long does a typical kitchen fit take?
A like-for-like replacement is the quick one. Changing the layout, moving services, replastering or waiting on a templated stone worktop all add stages, and the worktop template usually cannot be taken until the units are in.
What is included and excluded in the quote?
Ask specifically about the flooring, the tiling, the decoration, the disposal of the old kitchen and the gas connection. Those are the usual exclusions and they add up.
Do fitters remove the old kitchen and take it away?
Most will, but it is often priced separately, and disposal in London carries real cost. Confirm it is in the number rather than assuming.
Can you install IKEA, Howdens, Wren or a bespoke kitchen?
Yes. Say which range when you enquire, because fitters have ones they install weekly. Flat pack ranges need assembly time that rigid ones do not, and that belongs in the quote.
Do fitters handle plumbing, electrics, tiling and flooring?
A complete kitchen fitter will cover them, bringing in a qualified electrician and a Gas Safe registered engineer for the parts that legally require one. Make sure you receive those certificates.
What happens if items arrive damaged or the measurements are wrong?
If you supplied the kitchen, that is between you and the supplier, and it can stall the fit. If the fitter supplied it, it is theirs to resolve. It is one of the clearest practical differences between the two arrangements.
